On April 9th 2024, the United States Patent office issued a 4th patent to USAA where Justin Nash (Lambda Kappa Spring ’04) is a named inventor. Justin works as a Sr. Software Engineer in the Innovation Labs department and regularly leads invention activities focused on leading edge technology including brainstorming and product prototyping. He has dozens of patents that are currently under review by the US Patent & Trademark Office. This process takes multiple years to adjudicate but this is the 4th to make it through.
This latest patent is centered around helping people with impairments (visual, auditory, etc) by using Augmented Reality to add helpful elements to their environment. For example, the system transforms some aspects of a visual scene into a sound space for a visually impaired user.
