Brother Jeremy Bland Esq. (Lambda Kappa Spring ’04) is a Nupe focused on living up to Kappa Alpha Psi’s objectives. Brother Bland received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Arkansas University and his Juris Doctorate from Arizona Summit Law School.
He is now an award winning criminal defense lawyer focused on protecting the rights of the community when they’ve been charged with a crime.
We recently got a chance to ask Brother Bland about his experience as a Nupe and his time as a Lambda Kappa undergrad.
How long have you been a member of Kappa Alpha Psi?
I joined the Bond in the Spring of 2004. I’ve been a Lambda Kappa Nupe for 21 years now.
Why did you join Kappa Alpha Psi?
I Kappa fits me to a tee. I’ve always felt like the swag, neatness, coolness and suaveness aligned with my personality.
What’s your favorite part of being a Lambda Kappa Nupe/Kappa?
I just love the brotherhood.
Tell me about your life experience as a Kappa over the years.
I’ve met a lot of good friends, a lot of great brothers and really made a point to network.
Tell me about your undergraduate experience as a Lambda Kappa Nupe.
I will never forget the times we had as undergrads. It was an experience that will last forever in my mind. It was very rewarding. A lot of the things I learned as an undergrad taught me how to be the man I am.
What is your current occupation?
I’m an Attorney, licensed in Tennessee and Arkansas.
What do you love most about what you do?
I get to help people. Since I was young, I dedicated my life to law, justice and the pursuit of equity for the underrepresented.
HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?
Living in your purpose everyday. Giving your all to that purpose and living with the results.
WHO INSPIRES YOU?
I would have to say my family.
Do You have a mentor or someone you look to when you need guidance?
My father. I’m a second generation attorney and was practically raised around the court room.
What advice would you give to young Nupes?
The greatest fall of great men are four things: Alcohol, Drugs, Gambling, and Chasing Women.
If you stay away from the above, you are 10x ahead of everyone else already. Stay dedicated relentlessly to your purpose, keep God first, and all the dominoes will eventually fall in place.
